Jackson council votes to raise tourism, convention tax

The Jackson City Council unanimously approved a resolution to raise the city’s tourism and convention tax, a move that could increase dining and lodging costs, WJTV reported.

The tax was enacted more than 40 years ago to support the Jackson Convention and Visitors Bureau, also known as Visit Jackson, WJTV reported.

WJTV reported the council approved the resolution unanimously. The station said the measure is intended to fund tourism and convention activities tied to Visit Jackson.
