Mississippi State’s Brenen Thompson runs 4.26-second 40 at NFL combine

Brenen Thompson ran an official 40-yard dash time of 4.26 seconds at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, the NFL posted on its X account Feb. 28, 2026.

The time is expected to be the fastest at this year’s combine and places Thompson among the fastest receiver prospects this century, ESPN reported. ESPN listed him as the third-fastest receiver to run at the combine since 2003, tying Jerome Mathis’ 4.26 set in 2005.

Only John Ross (4.22 in 2017) and Xavier Worthy (4.21 in 2024) have recorded faster times in that span, ESPN said.

The NFL listed Thompson at 5-foot-9 and 164 pounds and showed him as the lone Mississippi State player on this year’s combine roster. Mississippi State said Thompson, who transferred from Oklahoma, set a school record with 1,054 receiving yards and had six touchdowns in his lone season with the Bulldogs.
