Mourners gathered Monday, July 20, at Center Pointe Church in Ocean Springs for the funeral of 18-year-old Nolan Xavier Wells, whose body was found July 6 near Horn Island, Mississippi Today reported. The death is under investigation, Mississippi Today said.
The Rev. Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy as music played during the service, Mississippi Today reported. Former NFL player Terrell Owens and filmmaker Spike Lee were among those in attendance, the outlet said.
Family members and friends cried and consoled one another during the service. Mississippi Today identified the teen’s mother as Christine Wonsley and said she left the church with her husband, Elmore Wonsley, and the Rev. Al Sharpton after the funeral.
