One killed in two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 49 in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — One person was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 49, the Hattiesburg Police Department said.

Officers responded about 1:27 p.m. to the 6900 block of U.S. Highway 49 after one vehicle rear-ended another, the department said.

Police said traffic in the area had slowed down at the time of the collision.
