Rankin County issues unhealthy air quality alert

Rankin County Emergency Operations said the county’s air quality fell into the unhealthy category on March 1, 2026, with an Air Quality Index of 153, the agency said.

WJTV reported that officials with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality were mentioned in the county’s notice.

The alert was posted by Rankin County Emergency Operations, WJTV reported.
