According to the Byram Police Department, in a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, 19-year-old Martravious Jamye Douglas of Canton was apprehended at Spring Lake Apartments in Byram yesterday evening. Douglas, wanted by the Jackson Police Department in connection to two separate murder cases, was located in building 6 of the apartment complex.
The Byram Police Chief David Errington said, the Byram Police Department received credible intelligence regarding Douglas’s whereabouts, prompting a swift response from local authorities. The operation included personnel from the Byram Police Department, Jackson Police Department, Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, and the SWAT team.
The apprehension was carried out smoothly, with no injuries reported during the operation. Douglas cooperated with law enforcement and was taken into custody without incident.
Douglas had been sought in connection to the murders of Anthony Davis on July 3 and Roitavious Greenfield on January 20. The presence of one additional individual at the scene led to their detainment for questioning, although no further details were immediately available.
Authorities commended the collaborative effort that led to Douglas’s arrest, underscoring the importance of interagency cooperation in addressing serious criminal cases.
