Appeals court rejects HUD homelessness overhaul as “disastrous”
A federal appeals court rejected the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s proposed overhaul of homelessness funding, calling the plan “disastrous,” the court said.
The agency had sought to shift money away from permanent housing programs and toward services that impose sobriety and other conditions, the appeals court said.
Advocates for people experiencing homelessness warned the changes would push many back into homelessness, they said.
