State health officials declared South Carolina’s measles outbreak over after the virus infected nearly 1,000 people, officials said.
The declaration came as health officials reported that measles cases are spreading across many parts of the United States, with more than 20 outbreaks currently active, officials said.
Officials did not provide a state-by-state breakdown in the announcement, but said outbreaks are occurring in multiple areas around the country, according to health officials.
Health officials said they continue to track and report cases as the situation evolves.
