The Mississippi Department of Transportation will hold a come-and-go public forum April 14 at the Brandon Civic Center to present proposed intersection upgrades along U.S. 80, MDOT said.

Teams from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency met with Habitat for Humanity organizers in the Tupelo area to explore partnerships to help storm-affected families return to safe, stable housing, MEMA said in a social media post.

A Wind Advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. for areas in northeast Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel, with winds reaching up to 40 mph.

The City of Ripley said regular garbage pickup will not run today due to staff illness. Residents were asked to leave trash at the curb for collection tomorrow, the city said.

The National Weather Service in Memphis says a warm, windy spring day is expected across the Mid-South and urged residents to secure loose outdoor items, especially in northeast Arkansas and Missouri’s bootheel where gusts could exceed 35 mph.
