Governor to call special session for state lottery, other business
Mississippi governor Phil Bryant announced he would call a special session of the legislature to work on several orders of business.
He believes during a special session that allocates the money from recently passed Online sales tax rulings, Casino sports betting and the BP oil spill settlement is necessary. Those matters of business plus adding state lottery will swell badly needed spending infrastructure by 400%.
Several members of the legislature, including House Speaker Phillip Gunn, are opposed to a state lottery.
It’s estimated the lottery would add $65 million to state coffers.
