World Health Org says to not use Ibuprofen with Coronavirus symptoms

The World Health Organization has advised people with COVID-19 symptoms avoid taking ibuprofen. This comes after French officials warned that the drug could worsen effects of the virus.

“We recommend using rather paracetamol, and do not use ibuprofen as a self-medication. That’s important,” WHO Spokesman Christian Lindmeier said.

Concerns were raised by the French over use of steroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs) products, including ibuprofen to treat symptoms.

Ibuprofen is sold under a number of brand names, including Nurofen and Advil.

“In the meantime, we recommend using rather paracetamol, and do not use ibuprofen as a self-medication. That’s important,” Lindmeier added.
