Ole Miss chancellor issues statement regarding removing Confederate statue from campus
Ole Miss Interim Chancellor Larry Sparks made an announcement on Thursday concerning the movement of the Confederate Statue off of campus.
In the announcement to the Ole Miss students, staff and faculty Sparks indicated the University iss moving forward with the relocation of the Confederate statue located on Campus in the Circle.
After the vote held by Associated Student Body, Graduate Student Council, Faculty Senate and Staff Council last month, Sparks had the following to say.
“(we will) work diligently toward this goal by respecting and abiding by state rules, regulations, and policies that govern the process of relocation, and by continuing to provide updates to the university community as the process moves forward.”
No exact timetable or location of the move was indicated.
