A 5:10 p.m. weather update warned thunderstorms will increase across the Mid-South over the next hour, with supercells capable of 75 mph winds, quick tornadoes and large hail.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation warned Tuesday that severe storms could affect the state and urged drivers to check road conditions and avoid travel if possible.

A weather alert Tuesday, March 15, 2026, said tornadoes could occur across parts of Mississippi into the evening and overnight hours and urged residents to identify safe locations and practice action plans.

Mississippi Emergency Management Agency warns residents to have multiple alert methods as severe weather is expected today and tonight.

The National Weather Service in Memphis says a line of fast-moving storms will move through the Mid-South later today into the evening, bringing a threat of damaging winds and spin-up tornadoes.

Forecasters warned the entire state faces severe weather from Sunday evening into early Monday, with damaging winds up to 70 mph, quarter-size hail and possible tornadoes. Residents were urged to stay alert and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

The National Weather Service in Memphis said a wind advisory takes effect at 8 a.m. and a line of strong to severe thunderstorms could arrive by 3 p.m., with damaging winds and possible tornadoes. A cold front will bring much colder temperatures, with a Freeze Warning for Monday and a Freeze Watch for Tuesday.
