Tupelo Police said one person was wounded in a shooting at the West Jackson Mart on W. Jackson Street and was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center; officials said there is no known threat to the public.

The National Weather Service office in Memphis, Tennessee posted safety guidance saying 6 inches of moving water can knock over an adult and 12 inches can carry away a small car.

The State Financial Officers Foundation named Mississippi State Auditor Shad White in its inaugural 2025 Oversight Report for identifying more than $400 million in government waste, the foundation said. The report highlighted White’s “MOGE” compilation of audits and his work targeting nonprofits it said wasted taxpayer money.
