Lengthy internet outage expected due to catastrophic damage to main fiber line
TEPA Connect reported Tuesday, March 17, 2026, that customers in parts of Tippah County are experiencing a significant internet outage after what the company described as catastrophic damage to its main fiber line.
In a public update posted March 17, TEPA Connect said a large truck tore down a main line fiber connection, causing widespread service disruption in the affected area. The company said the damage is severe and will likely lead to a lengthy outage for impacted customers.
TEPA Connect said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
The company also issued a reminder to customers as crews continue restoration work following the recent ice storm. TEPA Connect said many customers have turned off power to their modems and routers, which can prevent service from being restored properly once repairs are completed.
Customers are being urged to keep their internet equipment powered on during the restoration process. According to the company, outside repair work will not cause damage to modems or routers, and customers should be able to see lights on the front of both devices when they are powered up.
Anyone having trouble with their equipment is encouraged to contact the TEPA office for assistance.
TEPA Connect thanked customers for their patience as crews work to restore service.
