Report: Mississippi trooper killed because he was in law enforcement

According to a statement from the Mississippi Association is Chiefs of Police, Mississippi State trooper Josh Smith might have been killed due to him being in law enforcement.

From the statement:

“Please join us in keeping the family of MHP Trooper Josh Smith in our thoughts and prayers This young man was shot and killed while off duty but indications are that it was because of the profession he chose, law enforcement. We stand with the men and women of the Mississippi Highway Patrol in the mourning of their loss.”
