Tupelo Man Charged with Grand Larceny After Vehicle Theft Report
Tupelo, MS — A Tupelo man has been charged with grand larceny in connection with a vehicle theft reported late last month.
On June 27, 2025, officers with the Tupelo Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at Papa V’s, a business located at 438 East Main Street. The victim reported that their vehicle had been taken from the business’s parking lot.
The stolen vehicle was later located in Benton County, where authorities took a suspect into custody on unrelated charges.
Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as Thomas E. Clayton III, 41, of Tupelo. He was formally charged on July 1 with one count of grand larceny – taking of a motor vehicle.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Jay Weir Sumner set Clayton’s bond at $25,000. The case is expected to be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury for further proceedings.
