Tippah County Head Start’s to Re-Open Under New Program
Families in Tippah County will soon benefit from expanded early childhood education services as Pearl River Valley Opportunity, Inc. (PRVO) extends its Head Start program to 11 new counties across Mississippi.
This expansion means that children in Tippah County will now have access to high-quality early childhood education and family support programs designed to prepare them for long-term success. PRVO’s Head Start program provides comprehensive services that promote school readiness, healthy development, and family empowerment.
Founded in 1965, PRVO is celebrating 60 years of service as one of Mississippi’s leading community action agencies. Headquartered in Columbia, the organization operates satellite offices across the state and offers programs such as Community Services Block Grant, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Low Income Housing, Senior Meal Sites, and more.
“We are thrilled to expand our Head Start services into Tippah County and other new areas,” said Thomas Morris, Executive Director of PRVO. “For 60 years, our mission has been to create pathways of opportunity for children and families. This expansion ensures more children in rural communities receive the support they need to succeed.”
With the addition of Tippah and ten other counties — including Alcorn, Prentiss, Tishomingo, Yalobusha, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Monroe, Neshoba, Claiborne, and Perry — PRVO reaffirms its commitment to strengthening communities through early childhood education and family-centered services.
