Union County Landlord Arrested for Arson and Insurance Fraud Following House Fire
UNION COUNTY, Miss. — A Union County landlord has been arrested and charged in connection with a house fire that occurred late last month.
Johnny Dillard, 59, was taken into custody by the Union County Sheriff’s Department and faces charges of arson and insurance fraud, officials confirmed.
The charges stem from a fire that broke out on the morning of July 29 along Highway 30 East. According to New Albany Fire Chief Mark Whiteside, firefighters responded to the blaze and were able to contain it. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Authorities say the investigation quickly uncovered evidence suggesting the fire was intentionally set, leading to Dillard’s arrest.
The case remains under investigation.
