JACKSON–For the first time in six years, the Blue Mountain Lady Cougars are back in Jackson in search of the school’s first state championship.

Chills is very familiar with the big-stage moment of playing at the Big House, having been an assistant on two Ripley High School championship teams.

She said the key for her team in handling the environment is to stay composed regardless of the situation.

“I know the atmosphere could be overwhelming because it’s the biggest stage in Mississippi high school basketball,” said Chills. “But I just want the girls to play relaxed and have fun.”

As far as their opponent, the Lady Bulldogs, Chills said they have to do what they’ve done all year long–defend–if they want to move on.

“South Delta is very quick. We have to play locked-in defense,” she said. “The message is the same…Play our game because what we have done all year has got us to this point.”

The winner of this matchup will meet the winner of Biggersville/Lumberton on Thursday, February 29 at 6 p.m.
