Trump approves disaster declaration for Mississippi after Tropical Storm Arthur

President Donald Trump has approved a major disaster declaration for several Mississippi counties impacted by severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flash flooding from June 18 to 20, 2026, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced.

The storm caused damage to 532 homes, 17 businesses, and five farms across the state, according to officials. Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves expressed gratitude for the federal support, saying the declaration will aid recovery efforts and provide additional resources for residents.

Individual assistance is available for Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, and Stone counties. Eligible residents can apply for grants for temporary housing, home repairs, and low-interest loans for uninsured property losses. Public assistance has been approved for eight counties, including Covington, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, Stone, and Wayne. This aid supports debris removal, emergency protective measures, and public infrastructure repairs.
