Falkner Student-Athlete dealing with heart complications, future on field uncertain

A great all around student

Falkner’s Ava Palmer is a standout student, active in her church and a member of the cheer and softball squad. She was going to spend the summer playing softball, and enjoying herself as a needed break around her busy schedule.

Instead, a heart irregularity put an end to her summer softball schedule. After a visit to a heart specialist in Jackson her playing this season is in doubt.

“She was hoping to be cleared to start back playing Monday,” Ava’s mother, Danielle Palmer told us, “but her CT was abnormal. Her right coronary is abnormal and her heart is supplying blood off of her left only.”
Devastating news for the Falkner sophomore, her team, family and everyone who knows her.

An Upbeat Attitude: God Will Make a Way

Mrs. Palmer realizes the pain her daughter feels but has tried to keep an upbeat attitude and positive outlook.
“We need further tests to see if she will need surgery that would allow her to play competitive sports. Ava is very upset, but I told her it could be a lot worse. We just ask for everyone’s prayers.”
Ava was the starting pitcher on the fast pitch softball team and a key member of the cheer squad. On the diamond, she was one of the most improved Lady Eagles players last season and was going to be looked at to be a leader of the team this year.
Opposing coaches, players and her own team has expressed their concern over the situation and wish nothing but the best for the young lady as she faces an uncertain future. We will have more details after further testing is concluded. In the meantime, we offer our thoughts and well wishes to a lovely young lady and look forward to what the future holds for her.
