Ripley resident dancing for Boys and Girls Club

Ripley resident Nia Colom is putting on her dancing shoes and taking the stage to support the Boys and Girls Club of North Mississippi in their annual “Dance like the Stars” fundraiser. She was chosen as the representative of the Ripley Boys and Girls Club.

Colom personally sent three children through the Boys and Girls Club and speaks highly of our local club and the system in general.

“It’s a blessing to be able to raise money. The goal is $7500 and Ripley is normally one of the largest contributors to this fundraiser and I am trying to do my part to give back,” Colom said of her decision to Dance Like the Stars.

Despite a love for entertaining and being on stage, Colom’s experience with dance has a steep learning curve.

“Dance isn’t exactly my thing,” Colom quipped about her moves, “but I am excited to give it my best.”

Nia is training 2-3 times per week with her professional dance partner.

“I’ll be performing a very upbeat, East Coast popular to Etta James selection,” Colom said of her routine.

The show is August 11th, so mark your calendars.
