Heat advisory in affect until Wednesday night with index of 109 degrees

A severe heat advisory is in affect until Wednesday night.

From the NWS:

HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING…

…HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM CDT WEDNESDAY…

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a Heat

Advisory, which is in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM CDT Wednesday.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES…105 to 109 degrees.

* TIMING…Through 8 PM CDT this evening and again from 11 AM CDT

through 8 PM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS…High heat index values make it difficult for your

body to cool itself off. This could lead to heat stress or

heat stroke for anyone engaged in outdoor activities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is

expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity

will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are

possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned

room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and

neighbors.
