Flood warning issued for Tippah County as more rain expected

A Flood advisory has been issued for parts of Tippah County as over 3 inches have already fallen in parts with more rain expected according to an alert from the National Weather Service.

From the NWS:


The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a * Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for… Southern Tippah County in northeastern Mississippi…

* Until 200 PM CDT. * At 1053 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 2.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include… Ripley, Blue Mountain, Dumas, Murry, Clarysville, Peoples and Cotton Plant. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area.

This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
