The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said a deputy was fatally shot and a female bystander was wounded after gunfire in a convenience store parking lot near Hermanville. The FBI is offering up to $25,000 for information, the bureau said.

NEMCC Adult Education said registration remains open for a new rotation of adult education classes starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, with new day offerings and resumed night classes across five counties.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation thanked its workers for maintaining the state’s roads and bridges on Labor Day and urged travelers to buckle up and stay alert, MDOT said.
