NEMCC’s Tyler Samaniego promoted to Boston Red Sox

Tyler Samaniego of Northeast Mississippi Community College was promoted to the Boston Red Sox, the college said.

NEMCC said Samaniego will wear No. 78 and could make his major league debut in Boston.

The college said Samaniego is the first player in program history to be promoted to the major leagues.

NEMCC announced the move on its social media channels and congratulated Samaniego, using the program hashtag #TigerTown, the post said.
