Northeast Mississippi Community College honors Britney Whitley with Northeast Way Award

Britney Whitley, assistant vice president of the Student Success Center at Northeast Mississippi Community College, has been named this month’s recipient of the Northeast Way Award.

The award recognizes individuals who foster a positive and welcoming environment at NEMCC. According to her nomination, Whitley has demonstrated patience and encouragement amid challenges related to learning new digital platforms, graduation pathway requirements, and financial aid protocols.

Her nominators praised her for providing more than answers, noting her kindness during a season of questions and adjustments. One colleague said, “I want to say thank you for being so patient and helpful with all of our questions. I’m sure it has to be a lot.” Whitley responded with a smile, “Well that’s my job!”

Whitley’s compassionate leadership extends to her students, whose gratitude and relief are often visible as they leave the Success Center. Her approach has made a lasting impression on colleagues, who say she embodies what it means to be a good leader and positive influence.

A colleague remarked, “I can genuinely say I feel more prepared to do this job knowing Britney has all of our backs.” NEMCC encourages the community to nominate deserving employees for the award by visiting the provided link.
