Cold Wind Chills Continue in Mid-South After Weekend Storm

The winter storm that affected the Mid-South this weekend has moved out of the region, but extremely cold wind chills remain a concern, the National Weather Service in Memphis reported.

Early Monday morning, wind chills are expected to be well below zero across most of the area. The dangerous temperatures are expected to persist through Tuesday, prompting officials to advise residents to take precautions against frostbite and hypothermia.

The NWS warned residents to limit outdoor activities, dress warmly, and ensure pets and vulnerable populations are protected from the cold. Forecasters said the persistent wind chills are a result of high-pressure systems settling over the region after the storm’s departure.
