I-22 Westbound Lanes Reopen in North Mississippi

All westbound lanes of I-22/U.S. 78 from Red Banks (Exit 21) to the Tennessee state line have reopened, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT). The section of I-55 north of Como (Exit 257) that was previously closed is also now open.

MDOT advised drivers to avoid travel on these routes unless necessary. Icy conditions, debris, and crews remain on site, and emergency travel is recommended only in affected areas. Drivers are encouraged to avoid I-22 eastbound entirely.

MDOT recommends checking road conditions via the MDOT Traffic app or visiting MDOTtraffic.com. Counties shaded blue on the map have reports of ice on roads and bridges, and travel in those areas should be limited to emergencies only.

MDOT crews are actively clearing ice and debris, including work in Tate County on I-55, as shown in a recent video. For more information, visit MDOT’s website.
