Ice-covered roads reported in 10 Mississippi counties, MDOT warns drivers

As of 5 p.m. Monday, ice has been reported on roads and bridges in 10 counties across Mississippi, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

The affected counties include Benton, Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Tate and Tunica.

MDOT advised drivers to exercise extra caution while traveling in areas affected by winter weather. Officials warned about the potential for black ice on roadways overnight. Motorists are encouraged to check live road conditions through the MDOT Traffic app, available on the App Store and Google Play, or by visiting MDOTtraffic.com.

Drivers are urged to stay alert and prioritize safety as winter conditions continue across the region.
