MEMA urges residents to submit storm damage reports as FEMA reviews aid request

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said Friday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency is still reviewing the state’s request for an Individual Assistance declaration and urged residents to submit storm damage reports.

MEMA said the reports are critical to building a strong case for Individual Assistance and asked anyone who has not yet reported damage to use the agency’s Self-Report Tool.

The agency cautioned that submitting a damage report is not an application for financial assistance and that the self-report tool is not a 9-1-1 service. MEMA told residents to call 9-1-1 for immediate, life-threatening needs after a storm.

MEMA said the Self-Report Tool, including county-specific links, is available at https://www.msema.org/report-damage. The agency described the form as a data-collection tool it uses to assess damage and support federal assistance requests.
