Mississippi Driver Services Stations Close or Delay Opening Amid Winter Storm

Mississippi’s Northern and Central Driver Services Stations will be closed Thursday because of winter weather, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

Southern Region locations will open at 10 a.m., delayed from their usual hours, as officials monitor ongoing conditions. The department encourages residents to stay home and avoid travel if possible.

Commissioner Sean Tindell urged residents to prioritize safety. “Winter weather has impacted central and north Mississippi. We encourage everyone to stay home, stay warm, and avoid travel if possible,” Tindell said. “We are taking precautions to protect our employees while continuing essential services, and keeping everyone safe is our top priority.”

The department also expressed gratitude to first responders and frontline workers for their efforts during the storm. Officials continue to monitor conditions and will provide updates as necessary.
