Mississippi extends tax deadline for 49 counties to March 2026
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves has signed a proclamation extending the deadline for residents in 49 counties to pay their ad valorem taxes. The new deadline is set for March 3, 2026, according to a statement from the governor’s office.
The extension applies to counties affected by recent events, including Adams, Alcorn, Attala, Benton, Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Claiborne, Clarke, Clay, Coahoma, Desoto, Grenada, Hinds, Holmes, Humphreys, Itawamba, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leake, Leflore, Lowndes, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Newton, Oktibbeha, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Rankin, Smith, Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Union, Warren, Washington, Webster, Wilkinson, Yalobusha and Yazoo counties.
The proclamation also delays fines for late payments, providing relief to residents affected by ongoing challenges in these areas. Officials have not specified the reasons for the extension but emphasized the importance of giving taxpayers additional time to fulfill their obligations.
Tax payments are typically due earlier, but the extension aims to ease the burden on residents in the impacted counties, according to the governor’s office.
