Mississippi residents who lost food purchased with SNAP benefits due to power outages caused by Winter Storm Fern may qualify for replacement benefits, according to the Mississippi Department of Human Services.

Officials recommend reporting the loss within 10 days of the weather event, which ends on Feb. 3, 2026. Households must complete the Replacement SNAP Benefit Form and provide documented proof of a power outage lasting longer than four hours.
