Tupelo man arrested in connection with Jan. 6 shooting

Tupelo police are investigating a shooting that occurred Jan. 6 on Kirksey Circle, according to authorities. Officers responded to the scene around 7:52 a.m. after reports of a person being shot.

An adult victim was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Investigators collected evidence, including video footage from surveillance cameras operated by the Tupelo Housing Authority, through the department’s Real-Time Command Center and Fusus software.

Later that day, Malik Huddleston, 21, of Tupelo, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a felon. On Jan. 8, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Huddleston held without bond. The case is scheduled to be presented to the Lee County grand jury, authorities said.
