Tupelo man charged with felony trafficking of methamphetamine after traffic stop
Police in Tupelo arrested a man on felony drug charges following a traffic stop in late January, according to authorities.
On Jan. 27, officers with the Tupelo Police Department’s Special Operations Group and North Mississippi Narcotics Unit pulled over a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the stop, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle.
During the search, officers found a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana. Both the driver and front seat passenger, Makevinon D. Neal, 33, of Booneville, were taken into custody. Neal was found to be in possession of a felony amount of methamphetamine, police said.
Neal was charged with felony trafficking of a Schedule II controlled substance, according to court records. Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Jay Weir set his bond at $100,000. The case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury, officials said.
