Tupelo man charged with kidnapping after Ballard Park report

William H. McCord, 32, of Tupelo was arrested and charged with one count of kidnapping on March 20, 2026, after police responded March 18 to a report near Ballard Park, Tupelo police said.

Officers were told a friend had contacted them and said a woman was being held against her will by her ex-boyfriend, who might be armed, police said. The friend provided a description of a vehicle, and officers located the vehicle a short time later on Mitchell Road, police said.

The suspect was taken into custody on misdemeanor charges initially, and after further investigation McCord was arrested and charged with kidnapping on March 20, police said.

Tupelo Municipal Judge Weir ordered McCord held without bond, court records show. The case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury, police said.
