Tupelo man charged with possession of firearm by convicted felon
A Tupelo man was charged March 5 with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after officers found a gun during a traffic stop, the Tupelo Police Department said.
The department said officers stopped a vehicle on South Gloster Street near Cliff Gookin Boulevard on March 4 for an equipment violation. Officers located a firearm in the vehicle and were told the driver had a prior felony conviction, the department said.
On March 5, the department said, Grant N. Gardner, 42, of Tupelo, was charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Gardner held on a $5,000 bond on March 5, the department said. The charges will be presented to the Lee County grand jury, the department added.
