AccelerateMS awards $556,200 to Three Rivers to fund paid industry experiences across 27 northern and northeastern Mississippi counties
AccelerateMS has awarded $556,200 to Three Rivers Planning & Development District to fund paid industry experiences for roughly 180 participants across 27 counties in northern and northeastern Mississippi.
Magnolia Tribune reported Oct. 13, 2026, that AccelerateMS established the Mississippi Industry Experience Program (MIEP), a statewide workforce initiative designed to expand access to structured, paid industry experiences and create stronger pathways into high-wage careers.
According to Magnolia Tribune, MIEP directs funding toward workforce needs identified across Mississippi and supports work-based learning opportunities aligned with the state’s priority sectors and occupations. The program aims to reduce barriers to career entry and strengthen transitions from education, unemployment or underemployment into the workforce.
Magnolia Tribune said the Three Rivers award — the first recipient of MIEP funding — is expected to allow the planning and development district to coordinate paid industry experiences with employers across 27 counties, covering sectors including advanced manufacturing, construction and healthcare.
