Gulf high pressure brings 90s and clear skies to Columbus, northeast Mississippi
A high-pressure system over the Gulf will keep clear skies and well-above-normal temperatures in Columbus and across northeast Mississippi through midweek, WCBI reported on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026.
WCBI said Tuesday’s forecast high is 93°F, likely breaking the Oct. 13 record of 89°F set in 2016.
Skies are expected to be mostly sunny Tuesday with calm winds increasing to about 5 mph out of the south-southwest in the afternoon. Tuesday night will remain mostly clear with a low near 61°F and winds from the south-southeast at about 5 mph, becoming calm through the evening.
WCBI forecast Wednesday’s high around 94°F with mostly sunny skies. Forecasters noted a small chance that a couple of very isolated showers could affect northern counties in the afternoon, but the vast majority of the area is expected to remain dry.
Looking ahead, WCBI said a dry but strong cold front will push across northeast Mississippi and western Alabama. Highs are likely to fall by roughly 20°F from Thursday to Saturday. The front is expected to produce windy conditions as it passes, with sustained winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph at times on Friday. High-pressure systems before and after the front should keep most clouds out and bring sunny conditions into the weekend.
