Arrest Made Following Aggravated Domestic Violence Incident in Tupelo
According to the Tupelo Police Department, on July 19, 2024, officers responded to a distress call at Robert Kennedy Drive around 8:05 PM, where they found an adult female victim suffering from a stab wound to the chest. Law enforcement quickly located both the victim and the suspect upon arrival at the scene.
The suspect, identified as Darryl Gillespie, 65, a resident of Tupelo, was immediately taken into custody. The victim was promptly transported to North Mississippi Medical Center and reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Following an intensive investigation into the incident, Gillespie was formally charged with Aggravated Domestic Violence on the same day, July 19, 2024.
On July 21, 2024, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir presided over Gillespie’s bond hearing and set his bond at $100,000. The case is expected to be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury for further proceedings.
