Corinth Man Arrested on Kidnapping, Attempted Murder Charges After Roadway Shooting

CORINTH, Miss. — A 39-year-old Corinth man is behind bars on kidnapping and attempted murder charges after police say he abducted a victim at gunpoint and shot them earlier this week.

Bacarra Lamar Hill was taken into custody Friday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. during a traffic stop, according to the Corinth Police Department. The Corinth-Alcorn County SWAT team assisted officers and detectives with the stop.

Investigators allege Hill kidnapped the victim at gunpoint and that the shooting happened at a different location from where the victim was found. Officers discovered the wounded person Thursday afternoon lying in the roadway in the Scott Street area with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

The victim was airlifted by medical helicopter from the Belk parking lot to Regional One Health in Memphis. Authorities have not released the victim’s name or current condition.

Hill faces one count of kidnapping and one count of attempted murder. Police have not said how Hill and the victim knew each other or what led up to the incident.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Corinth Police Department.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
