Itawamba Community College Employee Arrested for Embezzlement
According to the Office of the State Auditor, JACKSON, Miss. – In a press conference today, State Auditor Shad White disclosed that Timothy Lucius, a former Itawamba Community College Telecommunications and Information Services Technician, has been apprehended by Special Agents from his office. Lucius faces one count of embezzlement following allegations of illicitly selling college-owned electronic equipment through his personal eBay store and pocketing the proceeds.
At the time of his arrest, Lucius was served with a demand letter amounting to $3,409.73, reflecting the alleged embezzled funds.
“We will continue to work on cases big and small to get results for the taxpayer,” Auditor White affirmed. He commended the investigators for their efforts in uncovering the alleged embezzlement scheme.
If convicted, Lucius could face fines of up to $5,000 and a maximum of 20 years in prison. It is important to note that all individuals arrested by the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
