Jackson State University alumnus Tramell Tillman has joined the cast of the upcoming film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” set for release on July 31, according to a news release. It is not yet clear what role he will play.
The Maryland native earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications from JSU, where he was involved in the MADDRAMA Performance Troupe, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., the Student Government Association, and the National Association of Black Journalists. Tillman gained recognition for his role as Seth Milchick on the television drama “Severance,” for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding supporting actor in 2025. He also played Captain Jack Bledsoe in “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.”
In a 2020 interview with Mississippi Today, Tillman recalled how a conversation with Mark Henderson, director of JSU’s MADDRAMA troupe, inspired him to pursue acting full time. Henderson praised Tillman’s achievements in a news release, saying his success inspires current students and validates the university’s training programs. JSU President Denise Jones Gregory expressed pride in Tillman’s accomplishments, noting that his journey exemplifies what is possible with talent and education from the university.
Tillman recently spoke at JSU’s spring 2026 undergraduate commencement ceremony. His career highlights demonstrate the potential for growth when talent is paired with opportunity, officials said.
