Magnolia Tribune recalls missionary Mary Fisher in reflection on Revelation 5
Magnolia Tribune published a devotional titled “Purchased for God” that reflects on Revelation 5:9-10 and the life of a missionary named Mary Fisher, the post said.
The post quotes Revelation 5:9-10 and Philippians 1:21 and says Christ’s death ransomed people for God and set believers free from sin. “You have been ransomed by God so that you might praise Him today and enjoy Him for all eternity,” the post states.
The post describes Fisher as a Welsh missionary candidate who studied the Shona language at Bible college so she could teach children in Zimbabwe. It says she did not survive a terrorist raid on the school where she taught and that her last recording included her teaching a song based on Philippians 1:21.
Magnolia Tribune uses Fisher’s story to argue that, even amid tragedy, the purpose of Christ’s sacrifice is to purchase believers for God and to direct their praise and service toward Him, the post says. The post urges readers to adopt that focus as their “greatest passion and highest purpose.”
The piece appeared first on Magnolia Tribune, which published the devotional and the reflections cited above.
