Mississippi declares cyclosporiasis reportable under emergency order
State Epidemiologist Renia Dotson issued an emergency reporting declaration Thursday that adds the intestinal infection cyclosporiasis to Mississippi’s list of diseases required to be reported, the Mississippi State Department of Health said.
The department said the change will allow health officials to monitor potential outbreaks across the state, the Mississippi Free Press reported.
The declaration makes reporting of cyclosporiasis mandatory under the emergency order, the department said, enabling officials to track and investigate cases more quickly.
The Mississippi Free Press reported the action and published the department’s announcement, the news outlet said.
