Mississippi landmarks to illuminate in teal Nov. 2 for Alzheimer’s Awareness

Several Mississippi landmarks will be illuminated in teal on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, to mark Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. Sites named in the report include the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion; the Pascagoula Street Tunnel in Jackson; the Grammy Museum Mississippi in Cleveland; Biloxi City Hall and the Biloxi Lighthouse; the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center; the Round Island Lighthouse in Pascagoula; and Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville.

SuperTalk Mississippi reported these locations are participating as part of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Light the World in Teal program, citing an AFA press release. AFA said the sites will join more than 1,750 locations worldwide in what the organization called a coordinated light-up to raise visibility for Alzheimer’s disease.

“Every Light the World in Teal site, whether it’s a skyscraper, a stadium, or a small village hall, helps make Alzheimer’s more visible and encourages greater understanding and support for the millions of families affected by Alzheimer’s,” AFA President and CEO Charles J. Fuschillo Jr. said in the release, SuperTalk Mississippi reported.

SuperTalk Mississippi also reported that AFA encourages people to wear teal or use social media to raise awareness throughout November. The article cited CDC statistics saying nearly seven million Americans — including approximately 63,000 Mississippians — are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease, and that the number of people with Alzheimer’s is projected to double by 2060.
