Mississippi revokes licenses of 21 insurance agents after no-shows at Oct. 15 hearing
The Mississippi Insurance Department revoked the licenses of 21 insurance agents after none appeared to defend themselves at a hearing scheduled for Oct. 15, 2026.
That account was reported by the Magnolia Tribune, which said the agents are accused of obtaining or maintaining Mississippi resident producer licenses through material misrepresentation or false pretenses in violation of state law.
Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney told the Magnolia Tribune the department’s investigative division learned of the misrepresentations. “To put it simply, the agents lied on their applications,” Chaney said.
The Magnolia Tribune reported that, despite receiving notice, none of the agents appeared to refute the claims and the licenses were revoked immediately.
The department noted the agents may appeal the decisions pursuant to Mississippi Code Section 83-17-83. The article also said the action follows an earlier round in July when the department revoked the licenses of 59 agents for similar reasons.
