Mother Arrested in Mississippi Charged with Murder in Louisianan

According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office- In a heartbreaking turn of events in southwest Louisiana, authorities have announced a murder charge against 25-year-old Aaliyah Jack, following the discovery of her 4-year-old son’s body and the miraculous rescue of her 1-year-old son days later.

The series of events began with the grim discovery of the 4-year-old boy’s body in a lake behind a Louisiana welcome center, prompting a search for Jack. Just two days later, authorities found her 1-year-old son miraculously alive, crawling beside Interstate 10 after reportedly spending two days alone in difficult weather conditions.

Initially arrested earlier in Mississippi on charges related to failure to report a missing child, Jack now faces escalated charges upon her return to Louisiana. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has charged her with cruelty to a juvenile and second-degree murder. She remains in custody in Meridian, Mississippi, with a bond set at $9.1 million.

Sheriff Gary “Stitch” Guillory emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation, noting that detectives are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death of the 4-year-old victim. Guillory expressed both the tragic nature of the incident and the remarkable survival of the infant, who was found covered in insect bites but otherwise in good health.

Jack’s legal proceedings are pending, and as of now, there is no information available regarding legal representation or whether she has made any statements in her defense.
